Solver Settings page

The Solver Settings page lets you control the thermal correlation analysis and set up the solver options to run a thermal correlation analysis when you select the Solver Settings node in the main panel.

Solver Settings
Correlation Times Available for transient solution only.

Defines the time at which the solver performs the thermal correlation analysis.

The list of correlation times comes from the sensor time points defined in the Sensors page and, the original solution time steps. You can add times by entering manually the time value to the list. You can delete times from the Correlation Times list by selecting the time and press Delete on your keyboard.

Note:
The specified correlation time must be greater than 0, and lower or equal to the final simulation time.
Convergence Criterion Option Available for transient solution only.

Specifies the option used for the optimization convergence criterion.

  • Constant—Uses a constant convergence value for the normalized error between the computed and the target temperatures for a thermal correlation analysis.
  • Time Varying—Uses a time-dependent convergence criterion that you define in the Convergence criterion table. The convergence criterion size is a linear interpolation of the table data.
Convergence Criterion Appears when Convergence Criterion Option is set to Constant.

Specifies the value at which the objective function of the optimization will satisfy the convergence requirement. This value must be greater than 0.

For more information, see Understanding the optimization convergence criterion.

Convergence Criterion option table Appears when Convergence Criterion Option is set to Time Varying.

Lets you define different converge criteria for different times of the transient solution. You must specify the times in the Time column and the associated convergence criteria in the Convergence Criterion column.

For more information, see Understanding the optimization convergence criterion.

You can click any column heading to sort the list in ascending or descending numerical order.

Use Import from File to import times and convergence criterion values from a file.

Maximum Design Cycles Sets the maximum number of optimization iterations to perform if the convergence criterion is not achieved.
Optimization Algorithm Specifies the optimization algorithm used for a thermal correlation analysis.

For more information, see Optimization algorithms.
