Exporting symbols
You can use Thermal Model Exchanger to export symbol values from Thermal Desktop into Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal.
In Thermal Desktop, symbols are user-defined variables that you can create and apply in boundary conditions using the expression editor. Thermal Model Exchanger (TMX) supports exporting symbols defined only using values. It does not support symbols defined using mathematical expressions based on other symbols.
- Primitives
- Temperature value defined in the Initial Temp box of a boundary Node.
- Heat loads
- Heaters
- Physical properties
- Material properties
- Optical properties
- Orbits
- Case sets
In Simcenter 3D, the value of the exported symbol is specified in the corresponding box for the imported boundary condition. If the symbol value is not in the International System of Units (SI) in Thermal Desktop, TMX converts it to SI units when importing it into Simcenter 3D.
Redefining symbols in a case set
In Thermal Desktop, when you define a symbol, its value is set globally and can be applied across multiple boundary conditions and case sets.
You can change the global definition of a symbol in the Symbols tab of the Case Set dialog box to adjust its value for a specific case. TMX exports the updated symbol values when exporting the Case Set into Simcenter 3D.
