Assumptions and limitations for exporting a model
The following section describes the Thermal Model Exchanger assumptions and limitations when you export a Thermal Desktop model to a Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal XML file.

You can use the Thermal Model Exchanger to export radiation from Thermal Desktop to Simcenter 3D. The surface selection varies depending on the settings in Thermal Desktop.

Exporting radiation

You can use the Thermal Model Exchanger to export radiation from Thermal Desktop to Simcenter 3D. The surface selection varies depending on the settings in Thermal Desktop.

In Thermal Desktop, radiation is computed using a Radiation Analysis Group that contains all the surfaces you selected and a Radiation Task that controls the radiation parameters within the active case set.

Thermal Model Exchanger only exports a Radiation Task to Simcenter 3D when the radiation calculation is enabled for the active case set. The application creates a Simcenter 3D Radiation simulation object of the Enclosure Radiation type, with surface selection categorized based on the active surface side in Thermal Desktop:

When the active surface side is both, the enclosure radiation has both top and bottom surface selections.
When the active surface side is top, the enclosure radiation has only the top surface selection.
When the active surface side is bottom, the enclosure radiation has only the bottom surface selection.
