Managing the reference data
In TMG Correlation, reference data refers to the temperature and time data that come from experimental tests or from prior and validated simulation models. They are named sensors and are used as targets for the optimization of the correlated solution.
Responses page
The Responses page displays the difference between the sensor temperature in the reference data and the temperature results in the original solution with associated absolute errors and warnings before performing a thermal correlation analysis when you select the Responses node in the main panel.

  The TMG Correlation user interface is integrated in Simcenter 3D using NX Open and contains unique features to conduct a thermal correlation analysis, in addition to standard tools and commands described in the Simcenter 3D Online help and the NX Online help.

    The Sensors page lets you import, create and manage the sensors. It also displays additional information for the sensors imported from the Reference Data file when you select the Sensors node in the main panel.

  A design variable is a simulation entity of your model that the TMG Correlation solver varies within a specific range during the optimization to reduce the gap between the reference data and the simulation results.
- Setting up the optimization
  In optimization, the goal is to find values for the design variables that minimize the difference between the reference data and the correlated solution results.
- Monitoring the optimization
  Use the Solution Monitor and Solution Control Monitor to track the analysis during the solve. The monitors provide solver-specific information for the TMG thermal solver and the thermal correlation analysis.
- Analyzing the optimization results
  After you solve a thermal correlation analysis, you can analyze the results of the optimization process in the TMG Correlation dialog box.

  After you verified the optimization results, you must update the simulation model to reflect any changes that were made during the thermal correlation analysis so that you can continue your modeling in Simcenter 3D.

Responses page

The Responses page displays the difference between the sensor temperature in the reference data and the temperature results in the original solution with associated absolute errors and warnings before performing a thermal correlation analysis when you select the Responses node in the main panel.


Responses
Load Original Solution Results	Loads the temperature results of the original solution.
Comparison Time	Available for transient solution only. Lets you select the time at which you want to compare the reference and original temperature data and compute the absolute error.
Responses table	Lists the following information related to the imported sensors for a thermal correlation analysis: Sensor—Displays the name of the sensor. Element or Node—Displays the element or node ID from the simulation model and paired with the sensor. Reference Temperature—Displays the reference temperature value for the sensor. Original Temperature—Displays the temperature in the original solution for the sensor. Absolute Error—Displays the temperature difference computed between the original and reference temperature. Warning—Issue a message if the reference or the original temperature for a sensor is interpolated or extrapolated by the solver for a specific comparison time. You can click any column heading to sort the list in ascending or descending alphabetical order or numerical order. When you right-click one or more sensors, the following commands appear: Plot—Lets you select how to display the evolution of the temperature through time before optimization for selected sensor. Available only for transient solution type. The options are: Reference—Plots the reference temperature of the selected sensor versus time. Original Solution—Plots the original solution temperature of the selected sensor versus. Overlay—Plots the reference and original temperatures of the selected sensor versus time on the same graph. Absolute Error—Plots the absolute error of the selected sensor versus time. Overlay with Absolute Error—Plots the original temperatures and the absolute error of the selected sensor versus time on the same graph. Information—Opens the Information window that lists general information about the sensors in a text format, which you can export to a text file if necessary.
