TMG Executive Menu

TMG Executive Menu is a standalone application that lets you execute processes on thermal-flow files and solutions independently of Simcenter 3D or Simcenter Femap.

Use the TMG Executive Menu application to do the following:

  • Run analyses in batch mode. You can use different input files such as INPF, thermal and flow solver scratch (XML) files, or multiphysics input .mpdat files.
  • Convert thermal and flow input files and run time files to and from different formats. For example, you can convert result binary files to the UNV format.
  • Remove unnecessary run time files from the running directories.
  • Run a thermal, flow, coupled thermal-flow, or multiphysics analysis in parallel on a cluster, using a scheduler.

Some processes depend on legacy NX I-deas TMG, NX I-deas ESC and Simcenter Femap TMG (11.4.1 or earlier) commands and do not work with files created by Simcenter 3D or Simcenter Femap TMG Thermal/Flow.

Location of executable

The TMG Executive Menu path and executable is:

  • <software installation>\nxcae_extras\tmg\com\tmgnx.cmd for Simcenter 3D or NX on Windows.
  • <software installation>\nxcae_extras\tmg\com\tmgnx.com for Simcenter 3D or NX on Linux.
  • <Femap installation>\tmg\femap\com\tmg.cmd for Simcenter Femap.
Note:

You can download the most recent TMG thermal-flow solvers installation from the downloads page for Simcenter 3D Add Ons or Femap Third Party Add Ons on Siemens Support Center.

Environment variables

You need to set the following environment variables to run TMG Executive Menu included with Simcenter 3D or NX:

  • UGII_TMG_DIR—indicates the location of the TMG thermal-flow solvers installation, usually called tmg.
  • UGII_BASE_DIR—indicates the location of the Simcenter 3D or NX installation.
  • (Optional for Linux) DISPLAY—locates a graphic display on Linux to open the MAYA HTT TMG Executive dialog box, the TMG Executive Menu user interface.

You need to set the following environment variables to run TMG Executive Menu included with Simcenter Femap:

  • FEMAP_TMG—indicates the location of the TMG thermal-flow solvers installation, usually called tmg.
