Importing a model from Simcenter 3D to Thermal Desktop
Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 introduces several significant improvements and new features for importing models from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal into Thermal Desktop. It now supports a greater variety of mesh types, thermo-optical properties, and boundary condition types from Simcenter 3D.

Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 now supports importing additional types of radiation and orbital heating simulation objects applied on various element types from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal.

  Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 introduces several significant improvements and new features for importing models from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal into Thermal Desktop. It now supports a greater variety of mesh types, thermo-optical properties, and boundary condition types from Simcenter 3D.

    Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 now supports importing most types of Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal meshes and their physical properties into Ansys Thermal Desktop^TM.

    You can now use Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 to import thermostat and proportional active heater controller modeling objects from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal into Thermal Desktop.

    Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 now supports importing additional types of radiation and orbital heating simulation objects applied on various element types from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal.

    Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 now supports importing temperature constraints and thermal couplings applied on various element types from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal.
- Exporting a model from Thermal Desktop to Simcenter 3D
  Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 introduces several significant improvements and new features for exporting models from Thermal Desktop into Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal. It now supports exporting domain tag sets, symbols, aliases, and more primitive, and boundary condition types from Thermal Desktop.

Importing radiation and orbital heating

Thermal Model Exchanger 2.0 now supports importing additional types of radiation and orbital heating simulation objects applied on various element types from Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal.

Thermal Model Exchanger (TMX) now supports importing:

Both the All Radiation and Enclosure Radiation types of the Radiation simulation object applied on 3D, 2D, 1D, and 0D elements.
Both the Illuminate All Elements and Illuminate Selected Elements types of the Orbital Heating simulation object, applied on 2D, 1D, and 0D elements.

To import Radiation simulation objects applied on 3D elements, you must surface coat 3D elements with 2D null shell elements. The Radiation simulation object applied on 0D elements is only imported to Thermal Desktop if the 0D element has a diameter defined in Simcenter 3D.

In the previous release, TMX only supported importing the All Radiation type of the Radiation simulation object and the Illuminate All Elements type of the Orbital Heating simulation object applied on 2D elements.
