Import a Simcenter 3D model to Thermal Desktop
When you import a Simcenter 3D model to Thermal Desktop, Thermal Model Exchanger imports the CAE entities listed in the thermal solver input XML file generated by Simcenter 3D.

- Introduction
  Thermal Model Exchanger is an application that allows you to transfer thermal models between Thermal Desktop and Simcenter 3D. The application supports the transfer of the meshes, material and optical properties, and boundary conditions of your model.
- Prerequisites and operating system
  Thermal Model Exchanger requires the installation of AutoCAD with Thermal Desktop. The Thermal Model Exchanger application uses the OpenTD Application Programming Interface (API) to exchange data between Simcenter 3D and Thermal Desktop. Since OpenTD only supports C#, Thermal Model Exchanger can only run on Windows.

Import a Simcenter 3D model to Thermal Desktop

When you import a Simcenter 3D model to Thermal Desktop, Thermal Model Exchanger imports the CAE entities listed in the thermal solver input XML file generated by Simcenter 3D.

The Thermal Model Exchanger application allows you to import a model to a new Thermal Desktop session or to an existing one.

To import a Simcenter 3D model to Thermal Desktop, do the following:

Start Thermal Model Exchanger.
Click Import a Simcenter 3D Thermal XML File and select the Simcenter 3D XML file you want to import to Thermal Desktop.
After the import is completed, the Simcenter 3D model will be in your Thermal Desktop session.
In the information window explore the import summary to identify if entities are not imported and potential import errors were encountered by the software.
