Update the TMG solver patch manually

Use this method to replace the TMG solver files in the installation.

Note:
If UGII_TMG_DIR points to a separate solver location, remove that override or set UGII_TMG_DIR to <Simcenter 3D installation>\THERMALFLOW\tmgsolver so that restarting uses the solver updated by this procedure.
  1. From the Simcenter 3D Add Ons downloads page on Siemens Support Center, download the latest TMG solver patch.
  2. Close and make sure that no solver processes are running.
  3. In the installation directory, locate the current TMG solver folder: <Simcenter 3D installation>\THERMALFLOW\tmgsolver
  4. To preserve the currently installed version, rename the existing tmgsolver folder, for example, to tmgsolver_old.
    Note:
Do not delete this folder. You can use it to restore the previous TMG version if necessary.
  5. Extract the downloaded TMG patch to a temporary location.
The extracted package contains a tmg folder.
  6. In the <Simcenter 3D installation>\THERMALFLOW\ directory, create a new tmgsolver folder.
  7. Copy the contents of the extracted tmg folder into the new tmgsolver folder.

The tmgsolver folder must directly contain the files and subfolders from the downloaded tmg folder.

    CAUTION:
Do not create an additional tmg folder level: <Simcenter 3D installation>\THERMALFLOW\tmgsolver\tmg\... will not be able to start the thermal-flow solver.

If the patch instructions in README.txt require updating the integration components, update the applicable files under <Simcenter 3D installation>\NXCAE_EXTRAS\tmg according to the instructions provided with the patch.

  8. Start .
  9. To verify that the expected TMG version and solver location are being used, run a small thermal-flow solution and check the information in the solution log file.
