Exporting heat loads
Thermal Model Exchanger supports the Total Load and Flux types of Thermal Desktop Heat Load. It converts these entities into the Heat Load and Heat Flux types of Simcenter 3D Thermal Loads respectively.
Thermal Model Exchanger supports constant, time-dependent and temperature-dependent values for thermal loads. The combination of time and temperature-dependent values is not supported. Thermal Models Exchanger exports the first value of the table defined in Thermal Desktop and displays a warning in the export summary.
Thermal Model Exchanger supports Thermal Desktop Heat Load that are applied on 3D solid primitives, faces of a solid primitive, surface primitives, edges of a surface primitive, surfaces, edges, 2D elements, and element edges. Note that Thermal Desktop does not allow Heat Load applied on a mix of entities.
The following table lists the Simcenter 3D and corresponding Thermal Desktop Heat Load entities.
Heat Load location | Selected Entities in Thermal Desktop | Selected Entities in Simcenter 3D |
Solid | 3D solid primitive | 3D elements |
Surface | Face(s) of a 3D solid primitive | 3D element faces |
2D primitive | 2D elements
2D elements from a regular mesh
Edge | Edge(s) of a surface primitive | 2D element edges |
Edge(s) of regular 2D elements |
Thermal Model Exchanger does not support the Put heat load into Insulation nodes option of the Thermal Desktop Heat Load, and ignores it during the export process.
