  - Introduction
    In most situations, a thermal model can be defined and solved directly within your CAE software. The thermal model is built using the software's interface, and the results can then be displayed and analyzed using its built-in post-processing tools.

Thermal solver input and output files

The thermal solver generates several data exchange files during the solve when using supported CAE software.

The primary input file for the TMG thermal solver is INPF. Results are written to VUFF, MODLF, FMODLF, tmgrslt.dat, tmggeom.dat, as well as the report and verbose log files.

To execute a file, it must be present at the start of the run. For restart runs, the tmggeom.dat file needs to be available. Refer to the description of Card 2a – Program Control for more details. Scratch files used by TMG have prefixes such as scx, SCX, or SC (e.g., SCX01, SCX09) and are deleted after the run.

The thermal model is constructed using the supported CAE software. The results are solved and displayed within the software using its built-in pre-processing and post-processing functionality.
